Sakura continuously changes through out the series, and she's bound to keep growing. To help get a better idea
of the type of person she was and the one she's becoming, I decided to break down her metamorphosis into
a list of important events. Ones that really show how much she's grown.
When we're first introduced to Sakura, she comes off as naive and selfish. Her strong personality is already apparent,
but isn't viewed in the best light. She appears to be a bit rude during certain situations.
As time passes, Sakura seems to mature slightly, but there isn't any obvious change
until the Chuunin exams. When she suffers from her short 'depression', thinking about how weak
she is in comparison to Sasuke and Naruto, it shows that she's come to terms with the fact
that she's been wasting time when she could be training. She wants to become stronger, and for once she obviously cares
about more than romance.
Once again, her growth continues on slowly, until the 2nd part of the exams. A lot happens during this time period. First, when
Sasuke and herself are fighting against Orochimaru, after Naruto is knocked out again and Sasuke freezes up, Sakura
starts screaming at him about how atleast Naruto wasn't a coward. Most people don't
think much of that scene, but the fact that she isn't afraid to put Sasuke down shows she's become stronger,
even if just slightly.
Next, the most important scene in relation to Sakura, when both Naruto and Sasuke are unconscious, and Lee
has been beaten while trying to protect her from Dosu, Zaku, and Kin. We see a lot of flashbacks about how she was when she was younger.
Always shy and ashamed of herself, Ino was the one to finally remove her from her shell. It's also revealed that
Sakura grew her hair out longer because she heard Sasuke liked long hair. Kin ends up capturing Sakura, by
grabbing onto her hair. It's at this moment that she really changes, Sakura uses a kunai to cut off all her hair, freeing herself
in the process. She's finally doing something for herself, and not anyone else. She proceeds to
talk about how she's sick of being the weak one, always behind Sasuke, Naruto, and even Lee. Sakura then
tries her very best to fight against them, and we get to see how strong she really is, the person that used to
hide. In the end her best isn't going to be enough, so Ino, Shikamaru, and Chouji decide to help her. All the same though, she
threw aside her fears and did the best she could do. We see a totally different person from the one at the beginning of the series.
After that, we see her slowly growing more. Her feelings for Sasuke seem more mature, and she starts to respect Lee, even Naruto, which
means she really shoved her pride aside. She became more of a woman, than a girl, even if she's still at
quite a young age. I think she has wisdom beyond her years, even if most people don't see it. And hopefully we'll
get to see her grow even more in the future.
